2000 Cruise Control Error Codes

Test Procedure for the Cruise Control Unit and Switches

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
2. Verify that the cruise control main switch is OFF.
3. Turn and hold the RESUME/ACCEL switch ON then, turn ON the cruise control main switch to activate system inspection. (the cruise set indicator light will illuminate for 3 seconds)
4. Operate each switch as described in the OPERATION CODES list and note the OPERATION CODE pattern that flashes. If the cruise set indicator light does not flash, inspect the corresponding area.
5. The OPERATION MODE is cancelled by turning the ignition switch to LOCK position or turning off the cruise control main switch.
OPERATION CODES flash the cruise set indicator on the dash. Count the number of flashes and refer to the list below.

21 SET/COAST SWITCH PRESSED

22 RESUME/ACCEL SWITCH PRESSED

31 BRAKE PEDAL PRESSED

35 P OR N RANGE (AT) OR NEUTRAL POSITION SHIFT (MT)

37 VEHICLE ABOVE 25 MPH

Detection Mode for the Cruise Control Unit and Switche Failures

1. Drive the vehicle at over 10 MPH.
2. Operate each of the cruise control switches.
3. Stop the vehicle and let it idle.
4. Turn ON the main cruise control switch.
5. Turn ON and HOLD the RESUME/ACCEL switch for at least 3 seconds. The cruise set indicator light will illuminate for 3 seconds and then go off for at least 2 seconds. Thus the detection mode begins. If a diagnostic error code is indicated, inspect the corresponding system area.
6. The CONDITION DETECTION MODE is cancelled by turning the ignition switch to LOCK position or turning off the cruise control main switch.
FAILURE CODES flash the cruise set indicator on the dash. Count the number of flashes and refer to the list below.

01 ACTUATOR OR STOPLIGHT SW-DEFECT

05 STOP FUSE OR WIRING-BLOWN, DEFECT

07 STOPLGHT SWITCHES-DEFECT

11 SET/COAST SW-DEFECT (ALWAYS ON)

12 RESUME/ACCEL SW-DEFECT (ALWAYS ON)

15 CRUISE CONTROL MODULE-DEFECT
